Oh Give Me A Break!

This is just ridiculous! If you actually watch the video, you can see that Faith Hill looks directly at the camera to make a funny "oh my gosh it wasn't me" face, and waits at least a second after the results are read to do it. She even smiles a little bit! Looks to me like she was making a joke...funny, that's what she says! But of course, we have to make her look like just another diva, another kind, respectable celebrity gone bad. It frustrates me so much, and I'm not even a big country music or Faith Hill fan (although she did start out singing Christian music in prisons, which is pretty cool). All I can say is give me a break, guys, and stop looking for things to gripe about! Feel free to comment and agree or disagree!

Laura,
i have to say, i disagree with you. i think it was authentic. i did not until i saw her with the other nominees in their little screens, and saw that she was really pacing nervously like she was going to win. i also think that b/c carrie is an "idol" winner, other artists take them a lot less seriously. that is, until they gank their CMA! i think she messed up...

You make good points--I had disregarded the pacing, and I like your point about the idols (although there have been some I wasn't so crazy about, I think Carrie was well-deserving and a great singer). Although it is possible, I just have a hard time believing that such an experienced artist would act like that knowing that the cameras are on them!

i find it hard to believe also. if she was a known pranskter or more carefree, i could see it--that's why it is hard to believe for me. i hope she was joking though--

I know, me too! I guess that's part of being a celebrity--you are more vulnerable to either making mistakes in front of millions or trying to make a joke and coming across the wrong way. You know me--I just feel bad for her either way!

One of my best friends, Kelly, did makeup at the CMA's with another friend, Colleen. Colleen was backstage when Faith did her "thing". She said that Faith really was joking and really did not know that the camera was on. It was a stand alone camera, no camera guy. From someone who saw it in person and in context and from everything I've seen and heard of FH, I tend to believe that it was a joke and that it was unfortunate that millions of people happened to see it.

(sorry I posted this under your Birthday post first - it's my first time!)
